Mommy, Look at the Cute Baby Frog
You have to love it (gloat in maternal pride?) when little boy batmen turn to their mothers and point out how cute your son is in his Halloween froggie outfit carrying around his oversized pumpkin and a broad smile.
That certainly makes up for the maternal humiliation when, while taking a picture of your froggie pride and joy, you watch him fall back on his noggin. In a parking lot. In the smack dab middle of a circle of fellow parents and their costumed children as we “trunk or treated” after daycare. (Cars were decorated and it was actually quite cute). Nonetheless, the audible gasp of horror from the crowd was not from the scary costumes as much as my scary parenting. There went my nomination for Mother of the Year! (Again)
I will try to post a picture of my little froggie later on today. He sooooo dug the whole trick-or-treating gig despite the fact that he will never eat what little candy he collected. We did give him an animal cracker someone had treated us with. ((It was a package of them; it was not laced with PCP or something bad like that)) But what’s not to love about going up to a door, having them oooh and aaaah over you and putting something shiny in your pumpkin?
This world, it is so much fun, these crazy things that happen.
