So, I finally got the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. I soooo recommend it to all women reading this blog who are of childbearing age. It's not just for women trying to conceive, but for women trying NOT to conceive. It's just a good book to help women learn about what the heck our bodies have been doing all this time. It has more detailed info than the web and it's all gathered in one space.
I'm also starting on a robitussin, grapefruit juice, mega-water, primrose oil treatment to help my body become more sperm friendly. The official research that I've found on all of those things is a bit sketchy. Although I haven't found anything that studies just fertility and the use of each of these things. What I'm thinking is that even if it's just a placebo effect, I'll take it! Doing all of these things gives me more perceived control and I feel like I'm doing "good things" to help get a bun in the oven. And at least some of medicine and healing is heavily influenced by attitude.
I'm also setting up an appointment for acupuncture soon. My Charlotte acupuncture friend is in Canada celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving, which is today! The research on acupuncture is actually a bit more sound. There is more "scientific" support for the benefits of acupuncture. Plus, it sounds cool!
We're on fall break from school. All this means for me is that I can stay at home all day and write. This is exactly my goal for the next 2.5 days. I love my classes this semester and I have some very interesting and fun students. But I am really struggling to do my research.
Patches has been limping really badly lately. We don't know why (pressure/humidity change?), but he's had a hard time just walking around the house. He is only 2 years old! It breaks my heart to think about how much pain he's going to be in in 10 more years. :-(
Time to get writing. If you're a chick, go order the "Taking Charge...." now!
