It's Official:  There's a Bun in the Oven

The doctor's visit was, essentially, anti-climatic.  I took a pregnancy test at the office, just like the one I'd taken at home yesterday morning.  Yes!  That's a total of 5 positive home pregnancy tests!  (I was studying hard for the final!)  The test in the office came back positive and then we all kind of shot the breeze.

I'm afraid I might have frightened him a bit.  I tend to be  a very low maintenance patient.  But, this time, I brought a file folder with my most recent temperature charts, and I made clear several times he shouldn't calculate my due date based on a 28 day cycle.  Cuz I wasn't having one last month!  I was also quite defensive about continuing exercise before I needed to be--he was very supportive of me continuing to do whatever I wanted as long as I feel good.  And I quizzed him on why Tylenol was better than ibuprofen--which sort of pissed him off.  Then I interrupted him on the spiel about testing, and he started getting a little testy.

The bitchy CNA was still there to set me up in the examination room.  Although this time she did not question why an old hag like me wanted to have a baby, I did detect a whiff of disapproval when I told her my age again.  In my mind's eye, I was flipping her a two-handed bird, and encouraging her to bite my a$$.  In reality, however, I was really trying to make sure that was the same woman.  I seriously thought about saying something to the doctor, but then I started feeling like a tattle-tale.  And what if she still was my CNA after I complained!?!  YIKES!  That seems like it could turn into an incredibly AWFUL experience with my first baby.  It's really getting too late to say something now.

Anywho, the due date is July 13th which is 3 days earlier than what I calculated using Excel.  But I'm really thinking, the doctor may know best on this one!  He wasn't too keen of giving me a "13th" due date.  I opted not to mention that my birthday is a 13th and I think having my first child born one month before my birthday would be pretty honkin' cool.  I go back in two weeks for all the blood tests.  Since I came in so early, I think they didn't need to do much this visit except make me pee in a cup and take my blood pressure.

Things are still going mostly well.  The nausea is picking up and I can finally blame the headaches on the hormones.  (Hence, the Tylenol discussion)  The boobage is becoming more of an issue.  I rolled over last night and actually woke up it was so painful.  However, there are some plusses to this problem.  I take after my grandma who has described herself as "two fried eggs on a wall."  I'm looking forward to being a little chesty for once without the aid of a Victoria Secret padded push up bra.

OK.  Off to work!  I'll be back to blogging about a variety of events once all these new things happening lose some of their excitement!
