I don't have a unifying blog thought today.

I went to yoga class yesterday and it was wonderful.  Yoga is one of those things that you just know is right and good.  The Dowd YMCA where we go (and in Charlotte, the Y is the happening place to work out) sometimes has some pretty lame classes, but this one was one of the best ones I've gone to.  It was a modified version of power yoga called Vinyasa.  I now interpret it to mean doing sun salutations until your arms are too weak to hold you off the ground.  My upper body is in a wonderful state of sore this morning.

My back, on the other hand, is still in a painful state of sore.  I'm going to the chiropractor at 10:00 this morning.

We had a few bothersome baby-related "benefits" problems yesterday. First, one of my colleagues came in worrying that we don't actually get a semester off of PAID leave for children.  There are two benefits they list in the faculty handbook:  one semester unpaid and one semester paid leave.  Why would one take the unpaid leave?  I have no idea, but I think it's for people who need the option after taking their paid leave.  Anyway, he was trying to convince me that we aren't guaranteed the paid leave which was upsetting me in no small way.  I sent the document to Dave, whom I thank God daily is an HR boy, and who interpretted it as paid first unpaid second.  One problem with working in a psychology department is, well, that we all have our neuroses.

More troublesome was the $527 bill from my suck-egg-dog Blue Crap Blue Steal State insurance denying coverage of the tests for my bloodwork.  Even though these are the what are approved by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists for the blood work at the beginning of one's pregnancy.  What Dave thinks happened and I concur is that the doctors entered the wrong code when filing the claim.  I know that the doctor has two files going for me:  one of GYN and one for OB.  If they filed under GYN, then it's likely the tests would be rejected.  Dave and I are calling today to straigthen that all out.  There's got to be something wrong because we've already paid the hospital charges for the test----and the bill they sent was only $72.  I would again like to publicly thank the powers-that-be that I'm married to an amazing man who ALSO is an expert in human resources.  He knows all the important stuff about insurance and benefits and has dealt with hundreds of problems like these---so I can not get hysterical and start crying about how poor we are and always will be.  Our HR department is so lame that usually my colleagues ask me questions about what is going on which I ask Dave who then explains what the scoop is.  He knows our benefits better than we do!

So on that glorious note, I shall start the day.  One more final to go and the semester is over!!!  Wooohoooo!!!
