CVS Test
On Monday, Dave and I go in for the CVS test. Because of my age, we're elligible for this test and although it's a risky test, the risk of the test is less than the risk of something being wrong with the baby. I'm a bit nervous. First, I'm nervous (and excited) because they do an ultra-sound on the baby. I'm worried because of my friend's experience that the won't find a heartbeat. But then, I'm excited, based on other friends' experiences, to see the baby on ultrasound. Depending on the position of the baby, they either stick something up through the cervix or they stick a needle through the abdomen and take a sample of the chorionic villi off the placenta and then grow the cells in the lab. They can tell all kinds of chromosonal abnormalities and also will tell us the gender of the child! Results will come back in about 1 to 2 weeks. After the test, I have to go on bed rest for the remainder of the day and refrain from heavy activity for a week. Most web sites only recommend resting for 2-3 days, but this doctor recommends a whole week.
We've obviouisly been thinking about it quite a bit. And worrying about it. So, it comes Monday. Tuesday we go to the regular OB for the three month check up.
On somewhat lighter news, my back feels so much better!!! The chiropractor said that my rib had moved out of alignment with my verterbra and the popped it back in (or realigned it or whatever they call it). It felt a little better as soon as they did it. Certainly better than the massage did---despite the fact that the massage felt better all over. And this morning, there is no pain!! This is the first morning I haven't had pain in a month. I'm pretty psyched about that!
Dave and I had a conference call yesterday with Blue Crap Blue Steal who said that the charges should have been covered, but apparently, the lab sent in the wrong diagnosis. I'm calling Presby hospital to straighten that out today. Thank goodness! I would rather there be a problem with their side of the paper work than that we owe $532 for regular lab tests! Yikes!
Tomorrow is graduation at UNCC with Clay Aiken. Oh joy! I'm going to have to get to campus pretty early to get a parking space and to pick up my cap and gown from the office. And I'll bring the new book I'm reading, Middlesex, to occupy time during the ceremony. I don't mean to sound like graduation Scrooge, but when they start reading the hundreds of names of students of which I know perhaps 10, it's not all that engaging.
Off to work at home and then finish up the Christmas gifts.
