Today is the release date for the Two Towers Extended Version DVD! I don't know about you, but I know what I'll be watching during every spare moment for the next week or so.
A reader commented yesterday that we should be counting down to Trilogy Tuesday on December 16th instead of the actual release date of December 17th. Keep in mind that even on Dec 16th, they will just be showing the extended versions of the first two films; supposedly, they will still wait to show Return of the King until 12:00 AM Dec 17th. We will continue to count down to the official release date.
Alas, Trilogy Tuesday is something of a sore spot for many LOTR fans here in Boston, MA; here, the special show sold out at the box office in 42 minutes, but, despite the published fact that tickets would be sold at the box office and on-line simultaniously, the tickets did not show up for sale on-line until 45 minutes after the box office opened, 3 minutes after the show was already sold out. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth ensued, not to mention calls and letters of complaint to the movie theater manager, but to no avail, no second show has been added. Therefore, the Countdown Calendar does not want to hear anything about Trilogy Tuesday (unless you happen to have a spare ticket to the Boston show that you are willing to sell). What, me, bitter? Well, definitely disappointed.
