During the years immediately after the election was stolen from Al Gore, I used to have arguments with friends who would tell me what a great president George Bush would be. I would refuse to discuss anything with them unless they answered one question, which most of them could not do. The question was this: Do you know who Karl Rove is?
This is one of the many reasons why I asked that question:

The Siegleman story was aired on 60 minutes tonight and no doubt many in the country who watched it are wondering what kinds of idiots live here in Alabama. Well, there are many answers to that question, but one of them surely is that we have enough of a bad history with politicians who have shamed us in the past that we don't readly jump up when a governor is accused of malfeasance because, well....
When Don Siegleman was accused of all this I didn't know what was behind it, but having met this man and seen what type of person he was I sure wasn't about to believe that he was the kind of man who would do what he was accused of doing. Far from it. If anything, he's more naieve than I am. But then I have seen what happens when you trust the government to take care of you. Or trust the media to tell you the truth. Or trust that your vote will be counted. (I lived in Baldwin County two years before this questionable election result took place, and can easily see how it could have happend: http://www.trews.org/node/975)
Here's a link to the 60 minutes segment itself -which was very toned down (one expects because of some heavy pressure to do so)! Does anyone still think that our media outlets are independent of political pressure to say what the powerful want to hear? PRAVDA? At least they're open and up front about it there!

So okay, I know you know who Karl Rove is now, but just in case you need a primer, here's one:
Link to CBS news story on Karl Rove called The End of the Rove
and where is Rove now? ON FOX NEWS of course, that only station of the fearful and fabulously rich that control our country. For NOW.
The Transcript of the CBS video is also online and I have a link to it above, but I want you to read the last few paragraphs. I am glad there are some honorable men in that once Grand Old Party still, though I can't for the life of me understand why they haven't left it long ago when the Bush/Rove/Baker/Cheney criminals took it over.
“What you seem to be saying here is that this is analogous to giving a great deal of money to a presidential campaign. And as a result, you become ambassador to Paris,” Pelley remarks.
“Exactly. That's exactly right,” Woods says.
Siegelman was campaigning in the 2006 Democratic primary as he went to trial. “We’re going to turn this bus into what we call the night shift, because after the trial every day we’re gonna be hittin the trail every day,” he said.
But he lost in the primary. After two months, the jury deadlocked twice, then, voted to convict on its third deliberation. Many legal minds were shocked when federal judge Mark Fuller, at sentencing, sent Siegelman directly to prison without allowing the usual 45 days before reporting.
“He had him manacled around his legs like we do with crazed killers. And whisked off to prison just like that. Now what does that tell you? That tells you that this was personal. You would not do that to a former governor,” Woods says.
“Would you do that to any white collar criminal?” Pelley asks.
“No, I haven't seen it done,” Woods says.
“Help me understand something. You're blaming the Republican administration for this prosecution. You're saying it was a political prosecution. You are a Republican. How do I reconcile that?” Pelley asks.
“We're Americans first. And you got to call it as you see it. And you got to stand up for what's right in this country,” Woods says.
