Backpack: Get Organized and Collaborate

twomaps

Well, it's official. After 13 years I'm getting divorced. I've had it with the stonewall silence, the obfuscations, the complex hidden truths that only a saint could tolerate. I'm switching - in fact, I've already switched - from my old internet hosting provider to a new one. I thought I was holding on because the partner I've been with all these years was experienced, wise and faithful, but instead I've been cornered into accepting less than I should have by the myth of steadfastness and length of service, and now I find that there are more compatible partners out there all along. Things might be a bit rocky for a bit while I completely break away, but very soon my new partner will have me back in shape, and all my various domain names will be up and functional. Meanwhile, this blog and my doublygifted.squarespace.com blog are not changing. They were never hosted by Network Solutions to start with and don't need to be moved at all. My new partner, Blue Host, is almost as experienced as the old one, and perhaps in terms of the services they offer, they are more experienced. The bottom line though is that the interface is so transparent, so easy to use, that even an aging geek like myself can still learn new things and get the stuff done that I want to do. I'm happy. I hope the honeymoon lasts.

Here's a link to my new friends: www.bluehost.com. Check them out and see why I had to make a clean break. Now if I could just find another fifteen hours in a day, I'd really be a happy camper.

The whole thing has been made much easier to navigate with the use of the new mindmapping software that I've recently discovered. The screen shot above is actually two different mindmaps that I've created to help me visualize my various tasks that I have to navigate both at work and outside of work. I am using something called comapping (www.comapping.com) which is a wonderful tool for not only organizing your own life but for collaborating with others on all sorts of projects. Check it out!
