Third day and we're still feeling good.
I was put to shame late this afternoon when we crossed paths with two young women from New Orleans. Nyah, age 26, and Rachel, age 22, were riding bikes in the opposite direction. They had left Louisiana early in May and were headed to Franklin, Pa. for the Fourth of July.
They road old bikes that a friend of theirs had put together from pieces and parts. They had a third of the gears on their bikes than we have on our bikes. They wore long black pants instead of bike clothes. They camped each night and ate fast food each day.
Did they have any problems? Not really. A few flat tires. They battled headwinds and rain, but they just pushed on. I was impressed.
Well, I'm writing this from the Bay Point Resort Yacht Clubhouse, a gorgeous facility. As I mentioned in the online story for Wednesday, a friend of mine, Clyde Wright from Wadsworth, offered me the use of his 36-foot boat for the night. I've never slept on a boat. This should be interesting.
Tomorrow we head inland. It's been fascinating following the Lake Erie shoreline these past three days. Even though I grew up in Euclid, itself on Lake Erie, I really didn't appreciate the huge influence the lake has on so many people in so many ways.
Tomorrow we enter into a different part of Ohio. We shall see. Come along for the ride.
