Here's a theme that runs through all these posts. In the world of politics, and in the world of talk radio, independent, free thought is out of the question.

If people can not put there hands on what they think you are, then the charge you are nothing. "You use to be this, and you use to be that. What happened to you."

Guess what?

I don't give a flying you know what about what people think I am. I support Howard Dean for President.

It does not mean I agree with everything he has to say.

I think for myself, and so should you.

What I want is the most freedom I can get, while ensuring domestic tranquility, and a society that strives for fairness and equality. I guess I'm FDR with a dash of Che' and Debord in me.

And with that I bid you good night.

Today I felt very much caught between the left and the right. I hate to say this, but the Democratic Party sucks.

Example: Richard Durban (Senator from Illinois) wants to compel the auto makers to build SUV's that get more gas milage.

Is this the way to fix the energy shortage? Go to people and say you can't buy one of these SUV's, and Detroit you can't make one of these SUV's because they use too much gas milage?

NO.

These are not new solutions to old problems. How about this: if people want to pay more of their hard earned money for a gas guzzler than let them.

Meanwhile, why not work on cars and SUV's that run on something other than fossil fuel. When it becomes enough in demand people will buy them.

It would be a good way to use the "market" to regulate gas use.

Will it work?

I don't know. But until Democrats stop reaching for old ideas, and using the power of the government to make choices for people, they will be stuck in the past.
