Another fine day in radioland I tried to have a discussion today about my growing feeling the politics of this country have nothing to do with me. I won't vote for Bush, and I don't really like Kerry either. He played a part in getting Telcom 96 passed, and it's because of Telcom 96 we have so many radio and TV stations in the hands of so few.
So what did I get out of it? Crazy hate e-mails, including, but no limited, to your "art sucks" and "most people are against death."
What does that have to do with what I was talking about?
My art very well may suck (come to The Mars Gallery Feb. 28th and find out) however it doesn't change the fact we keep looking for change in our politicians when what we need is change in ourselves.
Take the subject of politics alone. If you don't agree with someone you become the enemy. They call you names, and try and defeat your argument by dismissing you as being a nut case or less patriotic then they are.
How does that help?
I can't even start to tell you how burned out I am with politics. Dean is done, Kerry is less than expectable, and Bush is out of the question.
The only thing to do right now is go make some stinking art.
Music: new Tom Russell, Miles Davis, and Steve Earl.
