I have friends who live in Cuba. I think even they would say the FCC has no sense of humour. This is yet another stupid move that keeps the public's minds off the ownership rules, and how corrupt the FCC has become. From Radio and Records:
FCC Upholds Miami Station Fine For Castro Call
While the commission today reduced the fine from the originally proposed amount of $4,000 due to the company's history of rule compliance, Spanish Broadcasting System's WXDJ (El Zol 95)/Miami was still penalized $3,500 for a now-infamous June 17, 2003 stunt by morning hosts Enrique Santos and Joe Ferrero. On that day's show, the air personalities placed a telephone call to Cuban leader Fidel Castro without first notifying him or any of his staffers that the call was being recorded.

Sad news today. A friend of mine sent me an e-mail to tell me Ed Paschke, one of this city's best known artists, and a great guy passed away over Thanksgiving. He was a great guy. He will be missed. You can check out his art here.

Just read Sunday's Trib there's a write up about Paschke. He was 65 and died in his sleep. Life is way too short.
