I finally locate my Power Animal

It's not the one I'd have chosen consciously, but it's probably appropriate. Meditation this morning lead me to an orb-weaving garden spider. The arachnid in the following photo is commonly called the "Writing Spider" (Argiope aurantia):

Another, the Banded Garden Spider (Argiope trifasciata), is the most common orb-weaver in the U.S.:

I'm very fond of the Cat Face Spider (Araneus gemma), another harmless orb-weaver that can become quite large and spooky looking:

Many Cat-faces spun their webs in and around outbuildings on my Lake City farm.

I embrace* this creature as my helper, along with the Silkworm Moth (Bombyx mori):

I clung to its ivory fur during our twiliit journey out of a great mulberry tree and into the Butter Moon, a yellow-orange orb that lingers on the horizon in the Month of Flies.

And it is the Month of Flies here at the Old Same Place. Therein lies our tale...

*"Embrace" in the figurative sense, of course, lest they be crushed...
