Hey check out Dr. O's latest creation over at Broken Blogs, just arrived in this morning's mail. Yesterday was sort of a misery. I did remember Friday Cats quite late in the day, thanks to a visit to small ponderings, but a halfhearted search of my photo archives turned up nary a cat, and the local denizens were not readily to hand. Besides, I spent the day uploading the tiny jpegs I'd converted to enormous PNG files (5, 6, 7MB each) for the purpose of printing feral postcards and notecards, and this took the entire day over these phone lines, averaging about 45 minutes to an hour per photo. And so many remaining to do! I made CROW cookies between mouse clicks. Two more things I wanted to bring to your attention: My friend Miriam Bobkoff debuted her new library blog at http://santafelibrary.blogspot.com. She has done a gorgeous job with it and I encourage you to take a peek. And Thursday while driving out to the mercantile for the mail I spotted three meateating birds having a conversation over a ground squirrel in the middle of one of those dead fields. There they were--a bald eagle, a Swainson's hawk, and a raven, three species, about a foot apart, not seeming to argue, just facing each other in a sort of rayed triangle, telling jokes, maybe. "A bald eagle, a Swainson's hawk, and a raven walk into a bar..." I just thought it was weird. And kind of neat. Finally, we announce the (really truly) immanent arrival of a lady llama, a prim and petite and sweet small tan pretty llama, en route (in theory) as I type this. Her current foster owners phoned to say they were bringing her today. We are sooo excited.
And that's it for now. Have a great Saturday. |
