Stick It Game Below are my answers to the Stick It Game, foisted upon me by Karen M.: You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451; which book do you want to be? The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa or Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant, because Moby Dick and Tess of the d'Urbervilles probably will be taken already. Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? Yes. Everyone I've ever had a crush on has turned out to be fictional. The last book you bought was: Eclipse by John Banville (for 9 cents used, plus shipping) The last book you read: Writings/Schriften of Agnes Martin What are you currently reading? Eclipse by John Banville, The Tibetan Art of Living by Christopher Hansard, One Hundred White Daffodils by Jane Kenyon, The Real West Marginal Way by Richard Hugo Five books you would take to a desert island: Compact Oxford English Dictionary (in the box with the big fat magnifying glass in the little drawer); Collected Works of William Shakespeare; complete Mahabharata; King James Bible; Carla Emery's Encyclopedia of Country Living: I'm afraid I'm terribly practical about such things. Sneaking in the OED's magnifying glass will help me start fires; Emery's encyclopedia will tell me everything I need to know to survive in the wild anywhere, forever; every one of these books is enormously long, so I get maximum verbiage in just five volumes, and the poetry's built into the prose--so again, more bang for the buck over the long haul. Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why? Ordinarily I wouldn't. Ever. But I will this once, and they are not obligated to pass it on at all: 6:49:07 PM |
