Sunny today but cold, after days of off-&-on rain. When I leave the keyboard now it will be to start a fire in the wood stove, our first in weeks.
I have two regular customers at the neglected bird feeders, a scrub jay and a Steller's jay. Phh. Well, if you love birds you must love each and every one. They sure attack those seeds.
Evenings in these cool unsettled days have been spectacular, with cloud displays illuminated by set-sun's rays that just come up over the edge of the world--black cloud trailing saffron wisps, and bright streaks in the otherwise shaded pasture where llamas lie lit and bright while the rest of us and the land all around succumb to night.
Sunday and Monday N brought plant roots, very valuable and rare and oh-so-carefully harvested, and I showed him how to tincture them. When time comes to filter and bottle up the medicine (two weeks or so) he'll get a quart of it, and I'll have plenty to distribute in flu season.
