Feeling quite well today. I've had only a large cup of black tea with half & half and rice syrup so far, but no more bellyache. We shall proceed with caution. I finally got Brian to stop asking me whether I am sick; now I have to get him to stop asking me whether I feel better. He has a great concern about such things, and a touching compassion, but it takes many answers for one to finally register and can drive you bananas.

We are going out into the world today. To buy food, and castor oil, and mulch (since I must keep going in the garden or it will be too late; rotted hay is at a premium, I learn, so we go to the nursery to buy a substitute). I will also see whether they have any useful plants available; a local purchase is better than mail-order, but the varieties here are limited. I need a castor bean plant and a Meyer lemon tree (both will grow in the greenhouse), as well as a Clary sage or two (a deer ate my stalwart transplant).

So this is us going out the door on the first Saturday in July.
