There's a cool story over at Wired about a haptic device for composing electronic music.  Haptic refers to something that is touch based (like the neat computer setup in Minority Report).

The Audiopad was developed by a couple of MIT graduate students.  The device consists of some plastic disks, a special table with radio sensors and controls that are projected on to it.  Each of the disks control some aspect of the music (one of the discs serves as a microphone, others are drumbeats or keyboard sounds).  The computer makes music by tracking the positions of the disks on the table and outputting it in MIDI.  The deejay can change anything about the music - even the volume - by moving the disks.  There's a very cool demonstration video that you can watch at the Wired website.  It actually looks quite easy to operate, and fun.
