Those of you who live in the Lansing area should be sure to vote in the mayoral election tomorrow. This has been certainly one of the more interesting races in city history. I heard on the radio this morning that city officials only expect about 10 percent of the eligible voters to show up at the polls. I suppose that means it's going to be me, a good number of older folks, and maybe some students or special interest groups. Why don't you come on out and prove them wrong? Some people probably don't think that a mayoral race is important- they're more interested in voting for governor or president. (I think the only time I've ever had to wait in line to vote was during the first Clinton election.) But it is just as important - and besides, the mayor has a much less abstract impact on your life. You owe it to yourself to figure out which direction you want this city to head, and vote accordingly. Don't forget - the district library millage is also on the table tomorrow. (And remember, only selfish bastards vote against public libraries!)
