The venerable Krispy Kreme donut chain has opened up a store here in town. I'm not sure if I'm more disturbed that yet another chain store has opened up, or that said chain features a super-sweet, fatty desert. I don't think we really have any mom-and-pop donut stores around, though there are a few local joints where one can grab a pastry. Of course, I have to admit that I'm a Meijer junkie, and I've always had a thing for their donuts. I've honestly never had a Krispy Kreme donut, so I couldn't vouch for their quality (I've heard various reports of how good/how overrated they are). Donuts aren't neccessarily a bad thing - like everything else, they need to be consumed in moderation. (If you don't that's where the trouble starts.) I don't think I'll try one of theirs though. They're on a different end of town - they're on the newly developed trendy area, which I avoid like the plague.
