I do have to admit however that I am geeked about Return of the King. Yeah, we all have at least a vague idea of what happens at the end, especially those of you who've read the books (I will admit to not being one of you - honestly, I never got past The Hobbit).
In our pre-King countdown, we just re-watched Fellowship. It's strange how easily the movie sucks me in, even though I've seen it at least twice already. The acting and the script are fantastic. The special effects are neat too, but they are there to add flavor, not move the plot along. I think George Lucas could certainly take a hint from Peter Jackson - if the coolest thing in your movie is the special effects, there's a problem. I know I said that I was going to see the last prequel movie, but I'm mostly there because of Ewan MacGregor, not the increasingly hackneyed plotline which has way too much to do with Tattoine than is logically possible. The Rings movies are chock full of good acting and decent script decisions. The only bad part of seeing them in the theater is that you can't stop it for a bathroom break. See you at the movies - just don't get the large soda.
