I never understood the big deal about Friends. I watched it a little in syndication; it was okay I guess, but it didn't grab me. Frankly, I found the characters a little annoying.

So what did I like to watch? For most of its nine season run, I loved The Drew Carey Show. Forget six twenty-something goofballs kvetching in New York; I want the Dilbertesque adventures of a lonely chunky guy from Cleveland. I'll admit that some of the later episodes were rather lame (the two wives episode for example), but there were still some very funny shows even then (if you could find them after those ABC wanks kept moving them). The Drew Carey Show also just taped its final episode (why didn't we hear about this?).

And another thing....I want more Who's Line Is It Anyway?  It's bad enough that Kelly Ripa has two shows on the air, and we can't get ABC to air the newer episodes.  I'm reduced to watching reruns on ABC Family!  (What's really horrific is that I have to turn off the show while the credits are still running, or I'll risk seeing Moral Majority sock puppet Pat "I'm prayin' for you to die" Robertson.)

In celebration of nine years of mostly stellar entertainment, I offer up a list of a few of my favorite shows:

"Batmobile" (Season 3, Episode 6) - Drew wins the Batmobile in a fast food contest, but loses it when it's discovered by the company that he "defiled" it.

"That Thing You Don't" (Season 3, Episode 9) - Drew, Lewis, and Oswald re-form their high school band for a Battle of the Bands Contest, but have heavy competition from some old rivals. (This episode features The Reverend Horton Heat.)

"Two Weddings and a Funeral for a Refrigerator" - Drew and his girlfriend Nicki enter the employee contest to win a replacement for Drew's old, dying fridge.

"Drew Cam" (Season 5, Episode 9) - Drew and Kate advertise Winfred-Lowder products on the Internet. This show featured live cams from the set.

"Rich Woman, Poor Man" (Season 7, Episode 7) - Julia Duffy guest stars as a rich divorcee who falls in love with Drew, and lives like a "normal" person to see if she can give up her alimony for him.
