Trickle turns into a torrent By INQUIRER staff: Thursday 14 August 2003, 08:10 A REPORT claimed that IBM will increase its headcount in India from 4,500 to 10,000 over the next two years, underlining the fact that what used to be an outsourcing trickle has turned into a torrent. And that coincides with another report in the Hindustan Times. That said Motorola will double its spend in India, with Pramod Saxena, the country manager, claiming that his firm has transferred $4 billion of costs by moving to the subcontinent. Silicon India, meanwhile, claimed that IBM will significantly increase its presence in Kolkata (Calcutta) and Bangalore. The centre in Kolkata formerly belonged to Price Waterhouse Coopers.
