I'm not sure why but I seem to know a lot of people with common sense. I forget sometimes that there are really people out there who think this way. Of course it's wrong to force others not to be able to practice their religion freely (not sure if this is really happening in this case) but wouldn't it seem likewise wrong for people to impose their religious dogma over the will of consenting adults whose behavior happens to offend the dogmatists? Shouldn't this be completely obvious to anyone with the reasoning power of a toddler? Oh I guess it's ok because the writer of the column sides with the dogmatists...so I guess they must be right. Case closed.
Why are such folks so scared of gay people? Are they scared these deviants are going to MAKE others gay? Of course the folks themselves aren't succeptable...it's the impressionable youths who might be tempted by the appealing "gay lifestyle"...a "lifestyle" that's oh-so-disgusting to the enlightened protectors of the innocent but to those who don't know better yet might sound enticing...It's all so utterly ridiculous! Why would the protectors be impervious to gay temptation when others might not? Is it not that they themselves are tempted so they have the need to put up all these moral walls so keep everyone else (and themselves) safe?
I mean, people always use the Bible to defend their persecution of homosexuals (and perhaps most things they do that they know deep down are wrong) but they feel totally free to break every other rule in the book (pun intended)...Look at the Ten Commandments! How many people really follow these? Most people cheat on their spouses (or at least a very large percentage of people do)...Is this less wrong than being gay? Well...not being gay didn't make the top ten commandments list but adultery did. These same hypocrites like Newt and his ilk are the sorts of people who feel the need to DEFEND MARRIAGE! They need to defend it from themselves! How can they pretend to be on a moral high-horse! What a joke! Is gay marriage a threat to "traditional" marriage? Obviously not.
If gay people can marry then what...straight people won't be allowed to anymore??...and the human race will cease populating? Is anyone really dumb enough to believe this? Is anyone dumb enough to expect others to?? Seems like adultery is a bigger threat to marriage than gay people are no? The "gay agenda" seems to be equality with straight people...So does that mean the "straight agenda" is to keep that from happening?
