Why is it that it's just understood that companies give money to political parties and that's just part of the system? Any moron can see that the system lets people with more power and wealth literally buy their way into the political system to influence it to give them more power and wealth. The average citizen can't afford to buy his or her way in the way an already wealthy and powerful one can. Quite simply THE SYSTEM IS NOT FAIR! Why don't we stop pretending that it is? This isn't really democracy the way our nation's framers envisioned it!!! ISN'T THIS OBVIOUS?!?!?!!? LET'S STOP PRETENDING OUR SYSTEM IS FAIR AND MAYBE WE CAN IMPROVE IT!
Does anyone think that Enron would have had unparalleled access to the planning of the Bush administration energy policy of if they hadn't donated so much money and been buddies with his cabinet members? If this is ok with people (I don't see how it could be) then it should also be ok for the administration to tell us what happened in these meetings and how it influenced the energy policy the American people have a direct interest in and end up PAYING for!!!! Have people forgotten how corrupt these energy companies have been???? And yet some think deregulation would have prevented last weeks blackouts? We need regulation as long as companies put profits over people. Since profits ARE the most important things to corporations, we will need regulation for the forseeable future. This article on the blackouts is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL READING! (Thanks Chris!)
