Postcards From The Middle
I keep waiting for the day when I become perfect.
I'm thinking this is going to take forever.
In the meantime, there is joy here in Mukilteo, most of it centering around moderation and the mundane. Seriously. Here's a short list of recent pleasures:
- The Seahawks-Cardinals game last week.
- Cleaning the bathroom sink.
- Finding a sale on brownie mix.
- Organizing my digital photos.
- Pork chops.
I'm enjoying slow cooking, going to the library, emptying the trash, defragging my laptop, baking bread, the anti-inflammatory effects of Voltaren on my sore shoulder, listening to music, feeding my family, and sitting on the back deck, watching the leaves turn. Did I mention pork chops? I think I did.
The truth is, I'm doing the best I can, at any given minute, and while there's room for improvement there's also time to savor the little things. The calzone I made for John yesterday didn't explode like it normally does. Stuff like that.
This doesn't exactly inspire poetry, but I figure time is on my side. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the kiddy rides and leaving the E-tickets for another day. Works for me.
--------------------
I took advantage of Google/Picasa's new Web photo-posting thing and so I've got some pictures up on my site. Some you won't be interested in (e.g., pictures from my high school reunion), but I've got others there, family and friend things. The albums of my kids have some obvious gaps, just because I haven't gotten around to scanning. But, as I said, there are things to do, and God willing time to do them.
I have to go watch the leaves now. Back later.
