Coincidence?

I had an aural epiphany of sorts about a month ago when I realized that "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and the alphabet song have the same melody.  I found out this weekend that "Baa Baa Black Sheep" ALSO has the same melody.  There is some vast, musical conspiracy out there....

The Weekend

It's summer at a major urban children's hospital and this is what happened this weekend: we had a shaken baby, whose injury is so devastating that life support will be withdrawn soon; we had an 11-year old who was in the back seat of a car without a seatbelt on and now has a lacerated spleen, an injury to her spinal cord and a tear in her descending aorta; we had a kid not wearing a helmet who fell off of his bike (diagnosis: scrambled egg brain) and we had a kid who was wearing a helmet and who was hit by a car while riding her bike (diagnosis: broken leg.)  So, the culprit in the the shaken baby case will be arrested.  The point of this is: why not arrest the parents of the 11 year old who wasn't wearing a seatbelt and the 7 year old who wasn't wearing a helmet?  I mean, shouldn't someone be responsible?

Some stuff makes me sick to my stomach.  Shaken babies are definitely at the top of the list.

On a Brighter Note

Last week, Jack was wearing a pair of overalls and Kevin lifted him by the Y formed in the back by the straps.  Jack looked like he was flying and, with his blond curls and big smile, I was definitely looking at a cherub.  My own personal cherub.
