Monty's "The Customer is Always Right" Page

Monty is anxious to deliver the content the people want, so, since Becky in Tulsa has asked for celebrity-spotting info, I present

Monty's Wide-Eyed Celebrity Watch

wherein I will list celebrities I have spotted.

In New York:

Jerry Seinfeld - He has an office in my office building.  I've seen him a few times, always in shades and a ballcap.  I rode the elevator down with him and George Wallace.  I was a bit starstruck, just cuz I like the show, and I tried to appear nonchalant when we got to the lobby, I think made an "after you" gesture and said something like "Gentlemen..." and one of them may or may not have mumbled something referring to my jackassness.

Jackie Mason - I see him all the time in midtown.  He's very nice, when people look at him he gives a friendly "Hallo!"

Isabella Rossellini - I've seen her a couple times, once I was on a rowboat in Central Park and she was in another rowboat being interviewed.  Another time I saw her on the Upper east side and she looked at me like she was scared I would talk to her (I never try to talk to celebrities, except when I waited tables and had to take their orders)

Steve Buscemi - I saw him twice in Brooklyn, walking around with his son.  Very casual.  Once he was on the subway, eating a bagel.

Willem Defoe - Came into the restaurant a couple times when I waited tables.  He is scarier looking in person, his eyes are like dark caves, and he sat back in the corner and stared.

Gabriel Byrne - Also in the restaurant.  Seems shy.

Liv Tyler - Saw her a couple times walking around the east village.  Not especially cute in person.

Holly Hunter and Harvey Keitel - were at a play I saw at Columbia U, Peer Gynt.  Harvery looked old, Holly looked nice and dignified.  I think Harv left during intermission.

Kevin Kline - Saw him doing this Shakespeare thing they were shooting for PBS, led by this drunk scholar John Barton.  A lot of people thought he was great but he seemed like a doofus to me.

Robin Williams - rode by on his bike, hairily.

Edie Falco - spoke at my school, a sweet and charming lady.

Mary Louise Parker - spoke at my school, total babitude.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman - is chubby.

Al Sharpton - is fat.

Vince Gallo - is three feet tall.  I saw him ranting at somebody in Soho once.  He's a dork trying to be a freak.

Gee golly, there's a lot of them, too many.  It's pretty commonplace to see celebs in NY, cuz it's all so compact, whereas in LA they can all go place to place in cars.

More civilian-related blathering to come later.

Love

~Monty
