Stuffed Weiners Beat Beef Pie at Polls; Writer Unable to Come Up With Suggestive Headline

Yes, the results of the voting for the next Regrettable Food Project experiment are in, and Stuffed Frankfurters soundly trounced Beef Pie Alamode, in a 2-0 landslide.  Therefore, I will go shopping tomorrow and will put stuffing inside hotdogs later this week, providing photos and taste results for your edification.  Geez, the things I do for your people.

I'll also give you a scanned copy of the "500 Tasty Snacks for Entertaining" cover, which features a model of an alien solar system constructed with deviled eggs, green olives on toothpicks, and fridge scrapings on Town House crackers, all revolving around a hideous purple sun made from . . .you don't want to know.

For those of you who want to play along at home, here's the recipe for

Stuffed Frankfurters

8 frankfurters

1 cup bread crumbs

1 tablespoon minced onion

1 teaspoon melted butter

1/4 teaspoon salt

dash pepper

Boiling water to moisten

8 slices bacon

Partly split frankfurters lengthwise.  Combine bread crumbs, onions, butter, salt and pepper.  Add boiling water to moisten.  Fill mixture into opening of sausage, wrap bacon around each frankfurter, and broil until bacon is crisp.  Serves 8.

Happy cooking.  And don't play with baking powder -- it could be dangerous!
