Hitler's Public Schools Turning Out Commies; Christians Exhorted to Whine
From Agape Press, we get this important news story, "LaHaye Condemns U.S. Public Education; Home Educators Concur:
A popular Christian author and pastor says the overwhelming majority of Christians need a change of attitude regarding public schools. Meanwhile, leading education experts are trying to dispel some common myths about home schooling and let parents know why it may be a better choice for their families.
Dr. Tim LaHaye, co-author of the Left Behind novel series, says evangelical pastors who advocate sending their Christian youth to public schools are "philosophically out to lunch." He says those pastors and other Christian leaders who look favorably on public education "don't understand the worldview of the secular humanists that's being taught" in U.S. public schools, and they have a tendency to think that we just preach and pray and plug away, and we'll get our kids saved."
When, of course, only locking kids away from the world will keep them safe.
But then, maybe Tim is mad because the public schools won't use the "Left Behind" series as part of their English curriculum.
Kevin Cullinane, a longtime home school educator and the founder of Freedom Mountain Academy in Northeastern Tennessee, tends to agree with LaHaye's assessment and claims the advent of the U.S. public education system created a "nightmare situation." In his remarks earlier this week at the Alliance for the Separation of School and State Conference in Washington, D.C., the Christian education advocate said past champions of government schools have much in common with some of history's most infamous oppressors.
During his conference address, Cullinane quoted Aristotle's Politics, which says "education should be compulsory, free, and the same for everyone, because the purpose of schooling is to mold a child to be a good citizen of whatever state in which he lives." But the speaker went on to say that Hitler and Stalin would have agreed with that, and so did those who led America into state-run schooling in the 1840s.
Yup, if Hitler and Stalin probably would have thought that compulsory free education is a good idea, then it must an EVIL idea that came straight from Satan.
But you say you don't believe Tim and Kevin, and think that you can send your kids to public school without it damning their souls to hell? Well, the folks at the Nehemiah Institute have some bad news for you. Here, just read this story about them, also from Agape Press:
Study Shows Secularist Public Schools Indoctrinate Even Christian Kids
A researcher has revealed some disturbing trends regarding the sets of beliefs Christian students in public schools have about the most important issues in life.
Dan Smithwick is the founder and president of the Nehemiah Institute, a group that provides a biblical worldview testing and training service to Christian educators. He is the developer of what is called the "PEERS test," a tool to assess the worldviews of young people, and says the majority of public school students from evangelical Christian homes consistently score in the "socialist" category on the test.
And as I think you know, there will be no socialists in heaven!
When it comes to major moral and social issues, the Nehemiah Institute spokesman contends there is a dramatic difference in thinking between students in public schools and those in Christian schools. This is because, while Christian school students are generally taught curricula predicated on a biblical worldview, students educated in public schools, even when they grow up in Christian homes, tend to a very high degree to adopt the non-biblical and socialistic worldviews of the secular humanists in control of their education.
Yes, sad to say, children educated in the public schools tend to believe that the world wasn't created 6000 years ago, that dinosaurs didn't coexist with man, that this country wasn't founded as a theocracy, and that non-Christians have as much right to live here as Christians. I blame those damned science and social studies classes!
Unfortunately, Smithwick says, many Christian young people today are not being taught to think biblically in all areas of life. That is why he urges parents, pastors and Christian teachers to take advantage of the Nehemiah Institute's worldview testing, training, and resources.
I checked it out, and the Nehemiah Institute indeed has a great program! First, they invent a problem (today's kids don't have the proper biblical/capitalist worldview necessary to get into heaven). They they make you pay to see just how much of a socialist little Ivan really is (the Institute recommends that all kids be tested yearly, even kids in Christian schools and their teachers, because non-biblical worldviews can be really sneaky). And then, after they tell you that your kid is going to hell along with Stalin and Hitler, they sell you some literature to change his attitude.
Here, they explain it better than I can:
The PEERS test can be bought in booklet form, $13.50 per test, and the test results are mailed to us, or PEERS tests can be bought in online format for $9.95.
The purpose of the research is to help individuals and organizations identify key areas where their views of life are contrary to Biblical reasoning. The test serves as a survey of the 'damage to our walls.'

Position Papers are offered on test items most frequently missed. The papers provide scriptural support for why we should agree or disagree with the test item. The papers challenge the person taking the test to rethink why they believe what they believe. They challenge the person to answer such questions as: Where do my views come from? What assumptions do I hold causing me to believe these views? What leading thinkers in the past held to the views I believe to be true? What are the arguments against the views I hold?
Position Papers are available in three levels: junior high, high school, and college/adult.
Scripture commands us to rethink- "We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." II Cor. 10:5
And destroying speculation and making thoughts captive is what education is all about.
And here's the best news yet: they are looking for distributors!
Thank you for inquiring about our distributorship program. The Institute is looking for conservative Christians, minimum age of 21, who are able to work either full-time or part-time as independent sales representatives of our worldview training materials. These materials are sold primarily to Christian schools, churches, and homeschoolers.
Our Institute has been providing worldview testing and training materials to Christian educators since 1986. Over 15,000 students and adults have participated in PEERS Testing. Now "worldview education" is becoming an even greater issue than in years past.
The average order from schools is approximately $500. Under our purchase/resell program you can make 35% on these orders. With these numbers, just two schools or churches per week would give you approximately $1,500 per month in gross income. Why not get started now!
Yes, why not? There must be lots of parents, schools, and churches who are just dying to pay you $500 to tell them how secular their kids are.
But first you have to be accepted into program -- this involves sending the Institute $25 and taking the PEERS test yourself.
With acceptance of your PEERS score (generally must be 70.0 or higher) you will then be sent a letter of acceptance as a Distributor and a Distributor Agreement for your signature.
There is a two-fold purpose in having you take the test: 1) you become personally familiar with the primary product you will be selling, and 2) it helps both yourself and us know that we are in basic agreement on the issues addressed in the test.
And just what does a score of 70 or above mean?
Results from seniors in high school have ranged from -59.43 to +100.00. The average was 33.34. Based on the following worldview scale, these results give strong evidence for the need of solid Biblical worldview training and testing in junior high and senior high grades. Biblical Theism worldview- 70 - 100 Moderate Christian worldview- 30-69 Secular Humanist worldview- 0-29 Socialist worldview- less than 0
Frankly, I don't think some of you can pass the PEERS test with a score of 70.0 or above (Biblical Theism worldview). But because I'd hate for you to not be able to collect that sweet $1500 a month, let's go through the free Mini PEERS test (only 20 questions instead of 70) together, so I can coach you. I will also give you my reasoning for the answer selected, so that you can start to develop that biblical worldview needed to sell Nehemiah Institute materials. (Admittedly, I didn't submit my test for scoring, but only because (a) I know I am right, and don't need them to validate me; (b) It takes 7 days for them to get the results back, and I don't have that long; and (c) I don't want them to have my name and address, because I don't actually want to buy or sell their merchandise.)
Anyway, start out by reading the instructions:
Purpose: The PEERS Test is designed to identify your primary worldview in five areas of life: Politics (civil government), Economics, Education, Religion, and Social Issues (PEERS). The test will rate your views in one of four worldview categories: Biblical Theism, Moderate Christian, Secular Humanism or Socialism.
Taking the test: Place a 'check mark' in the box after each test item using the following key:
SA- Strongly Agree, TA- Tend to Agree, N- No Opinion, TD- Tend to Disagree, SD- Strongly Disagree.
Okay, pick up your pencil and BEGIN!
1. Unemployment is primarily caused by a lack of demand for goods and services
You should have chosen SD, as unemployment is primarily caused by laziness. This is the biblical worldview of Social Issues and/or Economics. Well, it's the Nehemiah Institutute's take on the biblical worldview of these subjects.
2. Human nature, because it constantly adapts and changes, has an unlimited potential for progressive development
Once again, the correct response is SD, since human nature is fallen and depraved, and has no potential for anything. Only God has unlimited potential. This is the biblical worldview of Education.
3. The accumulation of wealth by individuals is necessary for a nation to be financially strong.
This time, you should have said "SA." It it wasn't for captains of industry, robber barons, and trust-fund babies, this nation would be financially and spiritually weak. This is another aspect of the biblical worldview of Economics..
4. Government should rest as directly as possible on the will of the people.
SD. An easy one, because of course government should rest directly on the will of GOD. This is the biblical worldview of Politics.
5. Absolute truth exists in all areas of life and can be known.
SA. Absolute truth exists in every area, and can be known by reading the Bible. While it may seem like the Bible doesn't say much about, say, computers, that's only because you're not trying hard enough. Go back and read the part about witchcraft and sorcery -- that probably covers computers. This is the biblical worldview of Religion.
Are you getting the hang of this now?
6. Educational programs must be supervised by the government to ensure fairness, uniformity and equal opportunity to all citizens.
What did you say for this one? Oooh, you thought that fairness and equal opportunity sounded Christian? Sorry, but the correct answer is SD, as educational programs must be under the control of the parents and God, in order to ensure correct biblical worldviews.
7. Society, not the individual, is chiefly responsible for social evils.
SD. The individual is responsible for social evils, such as alcoholism, racism, sexism, poverty, etc. The individual most negatively effected by them is most responsible, as a general rule.
8. In a democratic society, citizens have a civil right to an education, and this right must be protected and enforced by civil governments.
SD. Only God gives you rights. And he has given you the right to have your parents and church educate you. If you give up that right, anything you say may be used against you in a court of Hell!
9. Individuals should be allowed to conduct life as they choose as long as it does not interfere with the lives of others.
The answer to this one should be "STRONGLY strongly disagree," because Individuals should only be allowed to conduct life in accordance with the Bible, even if they don't believe in it. Once again, this is the biblical worldview of Politics.
10. Private ownership of property is a necessary requirement for a nation to prosper.
SA. God hates commies.
11. Just as a minimum wage law helps poor people earn a fair income, a maximum wage law would benefit all citizens by using the abundance of money exceeding the maximum wage amount to finance programs beneficial to all (e.g., education, health care, etc.)
Another STRONGLY strongly disagree. Like we mentioned before, God has unlimited potential, and it would be blasphemy not to let Him use that potential to give His chosen an unlimited wage. That's the biblical worldview of Economics.
12. All people are conceived with a sinful nature which, from birth on, creates desires in them to commit evil deeds.
Duh! The NI biblical worldview of both Religion and Social Issues say so -- which is way its a waste of those biblical Economic resources to try and help the poor .
13. Because human nature is constantly changing, values and ethics will also change. Therefore, each generation should be free to adopt moral standards appropriate to their preferences.
SD. The moral standards God gave to our ancestors 6000 years ago are the moral standards for every generation. Especially the ones about how to slaughter meat, women not leaving the hut while menstuating, and selling one's daughters into slavery.
14. The Bible provides the foundation of civil law and should be the primary source of instruction for establishing civil government in all nations.
SA. Especially the parts of the Bible noted above.
15. Capital punishment for certain crimes is a Biblical mandate and should be enforced in our society.
SA. God ORDERED us to kill certain people.
16. Nationalism (the sovereignty of nations) is a hindrance to nations working for peace.
SD. This sounds like something a commie would say.
17. Each person has an eternal spirit which will live forever after the body dies. This spirit will either live in happiness with God in heaven or in torment with the devil in hell.
SA. And everyone who hasn't accepted Jesus is going to live in torment with the devil, no matter how good a life they lived.
18. Day-care schools for infants and toddlers, under the supervision of professional educators will enhance the educational process of children.
SD. Head Start is a commie tool for brainwashing kids into accepting the government as their parents.
19. Civil government, at both the state and federal levels, should not have responsibility for the economic well-being of the citizens.
SA. Only commies believe the state has any responsiblity for their economic well-being.
20. Traditional male and female roles are the result of special and distinct qualities with which men and women are born.
SA. Men are born to be leaders, protecters, and soldiers, while women are born to be nurturers, housekeepers, and Hooters waitresses. That's the way God intended things, and anybody who tries to upset God's plan is a non-biblical socialist.
There! By following those principles, you should be able to pass your PEERS test with a score of 100, and move on to the lucrative job of Nehemiah Institute distributor. Once you send the Institutute $125 for your starter Distributor Kit, of course.
