Oldies but Goodies

By Dixie Darr

"Scatter joy."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

"We were riding around one nice day and we came upon a car show," a friend wrote to me recently. "They had lots of old cars on display and they had some for sale. I told my husband it amazes me how some things, when they get old, their value goes up and up, but when people get old, it seems their value goes down." She's right, of course.

As a writer, though, I'm particularly sensitive to the power of the words we use to describe things. Therefore, I've decided to stop referring to myself as middle-aged, old, a senior citizen or even a geezer-in-training. Instead, I'm now a classic dame, with vintage stylings and timeless sensibilities. I am definitely NOT, however, an antique or collectible. What do you think?

You change your mind, you change your life. The human mind may be the most powerful force in the universe. How are you unleashing yours to create the life you yearn for? Obi Wan Kenobi said, "The force be with you." Harrison Ford said, "Force yourself."
