Have Yourself a Merry Little Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. I hope you are all enjoying the holiday with your friends and family and all your favorite food. I’m thankful that, for the first time in twenty-one years, my parents are in town for Thanksgiving. They’ve been wintering in Arizona, so I’m not sure they are as happy to be here as I am to have them here. I’m also thankful for sunshine and for the warm temperatures that are predicted for the next week.
Here are a few more things I’m thankful for:
· Good neighbors who loaned me vanilla when I discovered I was out of it after my early morning trip to the grocery store.
· My brother and sister-in-law for hosting our family feast, so I didn’t have to clean house as well as cook.
· Shepherds Abiding, the latest in Jan Karon’s Mitford books—a great one to start reading today.
· Some time off from teaching so I can remember why I like to do it and look forward to my January classes.
· Playing (mostly badly) with the bell choir at church.
· Figure skating on television tonight.
· Writing and cleaning projects to keep me busy tomorrow and away from the big shopping crowds. (I don’t do M*A*L*L*S!)
In case you hadn’t noticed, Christmas is exactly four weeks from today and my birthday a mere two weeks after that. Have a great holiday!
