Here's another picture from my cousin's farm. The odd post in the center of the picture holds an electric fence, which separates the cow field from the lawn surrounding the house.
After writing this morning's post, I drove to work and went past the farm I see every day now. Oops. I forgot that there are still cows inside the city limits-- but they are official Tennessee State University Department of Agriculture urban cows, so they're kind of decorative like a golf course or city park, situated just up the river from the Rhodia chemical plant, you know. They don't seem the same as cows in the country. Those cows are educators. And I forgot to fix the code after posting. But I'll fix this one right away, so, if you don't see pictures, come back in 5-10 minutes and they should be there then. 9:32:41 PM |

Summertime
This is at my cousin's farm, not too far from the land on which my parents and many generations of other relatives used to live. You have to drive further than ever before out of Nashville to get to scenery like this, but it's still only a half hour or so away. (When I was in high school, I drove past a couple of farms this size within the city limits every day.) I really prefer to live in the city, as I do, but it wouldn't feel like summer without a trip or two out to the country. 8:13:36 AM |
