A picture named gilead.jpg

The Book Club Babes have decided to read Gilead, by Marilynne Robinson.

I know she's a wonderful writer, and the book has won all kinds of awards, but I have to confess that I'm really not looking forward to reading it. My reason: the main character is a Christian preacher and I've had just about all I can take of this "faith-based" stuff.

But she teaches at the Iowa Writiers' Workshop and, well, OK, I'm willing to give it a shot.

Training Update
Weekend miles: 6
Total miles: 38

Thanks to all of you who have sent in checks to help me raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The funds haven't shown up on my Team-in-Training web site just yet, but I have received them and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. If you don't know what I'm talking about, but would like to, click here.
