A picture named gesture.jpg

I was walking my 3 miles on Saturday morning, at about 7:00, and I was not even half-way done, but already I was tired and sweating and my feet hurt and I was thinking that maybe I'm crazy, maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew with this training--I'm an over-weight, middle aged woman, after all, who's never done anything even remotely athletic--but there I was, huffing and puffing away, when a jogger passed me, a woman much younger and trimmer who moved with what seemed to be effortless grace, and just as she passed, she turned, ever so slightly toward me, glanced at my Team-in-Training T-shirt, and very dicreetly gave me a little round of applause.

I almost cried.

It was one of the most uplifting things that has ever happened to me. I picked up the pace after that. I was still tired, of course. But I felt like I could have walked on and on.

Thank you, generous jogger, whoever you are.

Training update:
Today's miles: 3
This week's miles: 9
Total miles: 41
