New Food Plan
My veggie plan for next year is the same as the one Carroll's friend settled on (see her comment on yesterday's post).
Next year I'll skip the CSA subscription in favor of making weekly trips to the farmer's market and buying something new every time.
Being forced to figure out how to cook new veggies has been one of the unexpected benefits of signing up for the weekly goodie bag.
So far this year, I've learned that:
* grilled okra is fabulous
* garlic sends up strange (and sort-of tasty) shoots called scapes
* you should blanch kale before sauteeing it (and if you do, it's good with apples and sausage)
* grilled baby eggplant is to die for
* and pickled onions are amazing
