Get Out the Vote

Last election, I worried a lot, and wrote a few checks, and of course I voted, but that's about it. Obviously, it wasn't enough.

This time I've signed up with MoveOn.org to work the phones. They've got a great software system you can access from home that prompts you to call progressive voters in key races to encourage them to go to the polls.

It's easy. And even kind of fun.

Last night, I called 50 people (it took me about an hour.) A lot of the time, no one was home. But on several of the calls, the person I talked to thanked me -- warmly -- for what I was doing and said how much they appreciated, and even admired me, for doing it.

It made me feel great.

You should try it.
