silly, hopeless schemes
I've seen a lot of silly, hopeless schemes for making money with art, and not all of them have been mine.
I went to one local art show where this guy, Wessler had made little scribbles on little pieces of paper that he was selling for a dollar apiece.
I could sort of see Wessler's logic with the scribble project. Since it was hard to make nice works of art, why not just make little scribbles that would be easy. And if you only charged a dollar people might buy one just for the hell of it, since they were so cheap. Then if the scribbles really caught on, he could just keep making the little scribbles all day long. And if it really, really caught on, Wessler could have a factory full of people crank out millions of scribbles a day.
Despite the respect I had for Wessler's idea, I didn't buy one of his scribbles, and I don't think the idea really caught on.
