star wars xxiv: revenge of the cardboard supermarket display

A picture named george lucas' integrity.jpgA lot of people are critical of George Lucas for a lot of different reasons these days, but I have respect for the guy because of this: you can't call the guy a sellout.

The man, or the artist, I should say, has kept himself free of commerical entanglements and big money compromises.  The name George Lucas pretty much means integrity.

But what about flagrant and ubiquitious product endorsements, like the one pictured right? I hear you saying.

Well, obviously, you guys just don't get it.  George Lucas is challenging us to examine the commericalism that is rampant in our society, so that we might see it for what it is, and perhaps one day transcend it and live truly free.

(this blog post brought to you by Pepsi, a registered trademark of the Pepsi Cola Company.)

But seriously, I snapped this camera phone pic at my local Publix while getting some smoked salmon and mouthwash and toilet paper (not to mention my first new toothbrush in about 2 years).  And despite all of my sarcastic Lucas bashing, I do happend to have...buh-BAH-BUH-BAHHHH!!!

Two tickets to the absolute world premier of the last Star Wars movie ever--Revenge of the Sith--at Ybor City's premier, luxury, super theatre tomorrow night (at 12:01 am eastern time).  (That last sentence was to be imagined in the Simpson's comic book guy voice).

Yes, me and Rachel will be among the very first human beings to see the last Star Wars movie--the one that is supposed to suck somewhat less than the last two.  And although a review of "sucking somewhat less" isn't exactly a stellar endorsement, its enough for a kid that grew up a total Star Wars nerd (and actually went off the deep end enough to spend several days making an R2-D2 hook rug).

I've never been to the Ybor super-premier theatre but they are supposed to have extra big comfy seats, not to mention they serve BOOZE!!!! Hooray!!!  (This sealed the deal for Rachel I think).

So there you have it.  Psyche!  Eyeball crunch! I got tickets to the big show and you don't!  By now they're all sold out for you guys and not even a worn out military ID and sob story about just coming back from the Iraq war will get you in.  May the Force fart on you.
