random events of the day:
*My (republican) neighbors hacked down two large, sprawling trees around their house. What was once a green and shady avenue is now a barren parcel of sun-scortched earth--just in time for summer. (It's my karma for being a professional eco-terrorist myself).
*I saw this black dude have a grand mal seizure in a cell phone store today. It was the first time I ever saw someone have one. The guy fell over and started thrashing violently, just like you see on tv.
There were these people with him that immediately held his head and neck in place, like they almost expected it to happen. At first I thought they might be some sort of medical escort that was with him. But then I saw they were all sheriff's deputies, dressed in casual clothes, but with badges on their belts and guns at their sides.
They restrained the guy, who was wearing ghetto sweats and a headband, for several minutes until he came to. An ambulance came, but when they asked him if he wanted to go to the hosptital, he said no, and to my suprise they didn't take him.
I figured he must be a detainee of some sort, being taken from one jail to another for some reason. But then the sheriff dudes let him walk around outside without cuffs or anything. There's no way they would let an incarcerated dude do that. And why the hell were they all at a cell phone store together? It was very weird.
After a litte while, they all piled into an unmarked police car and took off.
Meanwhile, I managed to order a replacement camera phone, since mine has been on the skids lately.
