all systems go
 All systems seem to be go for the Atlanta billboard. I approved a proof from the printing company today and now its just five business days until completion, which would put it at next Friday.
I was bracing myself for all sorts problems and red flags from the printer, questions like:
*Do you have permission to use a Salvador Dali painting in your work?
*Is this really a bona fide Steven Spielberg movie?
*Is Paramount Pictures going to come after us for putting their logo on this crazy thing?
I had an elaborate bunch of explanations (lies) ready in my head to try to smooth these issues over if they came up, but apparently it wasn't necessary.
But then, on the other hand, if they thought the advertisement was real, I would expect maybe some comments like:
*Wow, Mr. Michaels, that's pretty cool that you're starring in a major motion picture--and to think you still live humbly among us in St. Petersburg, Florida.
*It's pretty awesome how the movie producers are letting you use your birth given name for the title!
Or even just:
*What the hell is this all about? Swimming with a stolen painting? Being chased by a police helicopter?
But maybe the printing people have just been jaded by all the over-the-top ads they churn out everyday. I suppose in a world where we're bombarded by all sorts of preposterous hype, a little bit of fake, preposterous hype can get by unnoticed.
Or maybe they're just like the business I work at where we really don't care what the customer wants to do, or what kind of rules are bent or broken, as long as there's money to be made. (Most likely the right answer).
