A picture named turtle[1].jpg

three softshells get sucked into filter

Enzo the turtle awoke when the morning sunbeam tilted down through the jalousie window up above and warmed his plastic rock.  He opened his yellow eyes, stretched his little flippers and yawned.

After making a cup of coffee, Enzo crawled to the edge of his rock and picked up the Turtle Times, Sunday edition.

"THREE SOFTSHELLS GET SUCKED INTO FILTER," the headline read.  Enzo took the paper and his coffee to the breakfast table and began to read.

"What a shame," he said quietly.

About two paragraphs into the article Enzo looked up into the sky above his tank.  Up above he saw the big wiggly starfish  that flew around on a big stick.  The wiggly starfish descended into his tank like it always did  and dropped Enzos breakfast into the water.  Then the big wiggly starfish snapped on the sun before flying away into the sky.

After that, Enzo returned to the article about the red-eared sliders.

A spokesman for the Acme Filter company denied any negligence or wrongdoing by the company, and speculated that the sliders were swimming in a restricted area, and may have been, in fact, intoxicated.

Enzo frowned and folded the paper to its original size.  Then he looked up at the big sea-shell clock on the wall.

"Running late again," he said.
