As promised, Haley Barbour's winning message. These were all over the place, our friend says, lining the streets and highway. Divisiveness sells, I guess.

The pre-fab cross rises up on the side of the highway in Effingham, Illinois. Brought to you by The Cross Foundation, a non-profit organization. For a donation, you can get a brochure about them at the gas station. It's like ten mobile homes stacked up on top of one another. "An engineering wonder" according to the brochure. Who could argue?

We're back. Well, sort of. We got in this morning after hitting such bad traffic last night that we ended up spending $60 for 6 hours of sleep in a Mississippi hotel. What can you do. We got up VERY early this morning (S had school, I had to teach), hit more terrible traffic, and finally got in around 10. I feel like one of those NOLA vampires -- here and not here all at the same time. What a day!

We were greeted, though, by a beautiful clear day. It was absolutely gorgeous.
