Hey! More pictures. Vehicle graffiti:

A picture named jesuswon.jpg

On the back window of a truck: Jesus Won!

A picture named lastbattle.jpg

And on the back of a van: The Last Battle on Earth.

Time to move to Idaho!

Finally! Some pictures taken with my nifty new camera.

A picture named mardigrasvirgin.jpg

Even the Mother of God wears Mardi Gras beads down here. I assume she didn't have to show her breasts for this strand.

A picture named paradisebird.jpg

A lovely bird of paradise with a typical New Orleans gas-burning lamp in the background. Many of the houses in Uptown and the Garden District have gas-burning lamps framing their front doors. They are on all the time.

A picture named whograss.jpg

I call this Who grass. It is ubiquitous here and it looks like the tufts of hair above those Who people in Dr. Seuss' books. Ah, a sea of who grass. How lovely!

A picture named lafayetteone.jpg

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 across the street from Commander's Palace. This place is a madhouse. Whenever it's open, there are streams of tourists inside and out, all hoping (I assume) to see a glimpse of Vampire Lastat's ghost. Alas, he's a figment of Anne Rice's imagination and therefore never existed. Some would argue that existence does not necessarily preclude the appearance of ghosts or similar otherworldly apparitions. As far as I know, he does not have a grave in Lafayette No. 1. As for his ghost drifting among the tombs, I leave it for you to decide.

A picture named suspendedcolumn.jpg

This house is obviously under reconstruction. And yes, that middle column is suspended in air. There is nothing underneath it. I asked a couple of the restorers if I could take a picture of the groundless column, and when I noted how odd it was to see a column suspended like that, one said, "Scary odd, right?"
