I'm kind of going crazy with this new itty bitty camera. I love that I can take it with me everywhere. Here's a few shots from around town the past couple of days:

A bridal store near the ice cream shop. It's hot down here, so we went to get a couple of scoops tonight.

There was something about the mannequin's arm extended this way that caught my eye. With the evening light and the curly cue iron bars across the windows, the entire effect was surreal, otherworldly.

A picture named spanishmoss.jpg

Two days ago we went to hear a classical guitarist friend play at the botanical gardens in City Park. This tree struck me. It seemed the spanish moss had taken over, leaving the tree with far fewer leaves than its neighbors.

A picture named hibachi.jpg

The Japanese restaurant near our house. The hibachi chef was blurry in real life too. He sliced and diced faster than the Iron Chef. Honest!

A picture named caterpillars.jpg

These caterpillars have wreaked havoc on our household. They have stung our dog numerous times and got S on the leg after traveling in with him on his pant leg. They are called buck moth caterpillars and their spiney hairs are poisonous. The effect is not so different than the sting of a bee. We have killed hundreds of them on our front porch. They are icky icky icky. If you step on one, their yellow insides squirt a half a foot or more. Yuck! Apparently they damage the oak trees, so most people spray to get rid of them. They're even talked about on the evening news! For some reason they love our front porch. Our neighbors have speculated that they want to get out of the sun. Who knows. They crawl up the walls, get into the plants, caccoon on our front door. Just think: first they sting you, then they transform into moths and eat all your clothes. Yippee.

If you come to NOLA in April, look out! Pack a pair of closed-toe shoes if you plan on walking through the park. Ew!

There's something about the freedom of having such a teeny tiny camera with me all the time. Here's a couple of silly out-the-window shots. S is getting frustrated with me; I'm always taking pictures.
