Hey! Don't worry 'bout anything! The weather's nice, so why get upset over a few vote count discrepancies in the 2004 election...I mean, really, would it have mattered anyway? 1:45:36 PM | "Stop beating a dead horse!" (via michaelmoore.com) |

What was I thinking?! I forgot to put Commander's on the list. By all
means, go there for Sunday brunch. It's absolutely scrumptious. 1:27:34 PM | |
Oh New OrleansHere's a nice travel piece about New Orleans in the Washington Post.
We're coming up to Jazz Fest, the second most popular time to visit
NOLA, and I'm going to be there! I've still got a stash of things in
our apartment that need to be brought back to Chicago and a host of
friends to visit. I'm really looking forward to the trip. 10:28:13 AM | If you're going, here's a few must-dos the article failed to mention: Eat at Mango House, Mat + Naddie's, Crabby Jack's, Mona's, Camillia Grill, and Dunbar's (lunch on Thursdays...trust me), and don't forget to buy a few croissaints at La Boulangerie, the best French pastries outside of Paris (honest! And I was just in Paris last month). All of these restaurants are reasonable. You know, for all of us mortals who aren't on newspaper expense accounts. If you have a car, go out to East New Orleans and get some of the best Vietnamese food anywhere. You can pick up a lucky curly palm for about a dollar at the local market, too, or a pointy straw hat and durian-flavored candies. Yum! Have tea at Indonique on Magazine Street. The white is unbelievable, but then again so is the red, the green... Coffee and a sandwich at Rue de la Course, because it's a local chain and they're a dying breed. Plus, the coffee's tasty! Halloween is a a blast in NOLA, more fun than Mardi Gras. Go to the Lazarus Project's annual costume ball. It's outrageous and it's for a good cause. Go see Ellis Marsalis and his son Jason play at Snug Harbor on a Friday night. It's more fun than oughta be allowed. Walk along the lagoon at Audubon Park through the Live Oak canopy. If it's a little gloomy and there aren't too many golfers, take the bridge across and walk through the golf course. The trees are amazing. Get out into the neighborhoods and ask around for a second line. Now that's New Orleans. Here's a few pictures of our country's fair carribean city. I miss you, New Orleans! ![]() A reveler at Lazarus Project's 2004 ball: Medusa come to life! ![]() Jason Marsalis at the Snug Harbor.
