The WorryI can't imagine what it would be like to have a spouse or child in Iraq, where nearly every day another soldier is killed (39 so far this month). It is bad enough that S is in Afghanistan, the war that our nation forgot. Yesterday a soldier was killed
while on patrol when his group was ambushed in the Afghan province of
Uruzgan. I will worry until I hear from him. He can't call anymore
because he lent his cell phone to one of the officers and the guy lost
it. I bought him another yesterday, but I have to wait until
T-Mobile unlocks it before I can send it and even then it will be weeks
before he receives it. 9:50:35 AM | I hate all this worry. And I hate most people right now because they don't give a damn. They're too busy watching "I Want A Famous Face," or one of those other ridiculous, stupid-ass shows. I understand, somewhat. You can't think about it all the time. I have a schizophrenic existence. I'm down here in New Orleans where the weather is fine and I'm seeing friends, having fun. In the background, though, is this darkness. The worry. |
