News from the war America forgotGuess what...we're still at war in Afghanistan. Did you hear? 10:41:42 AM | Thanks to the bad behavior of a handful of soldiers stationed at Guantanamo, and a May 9 Newsweek story about their desecration of the Koran, there have been riots across Afghanistan that have left several Afghans dead and have forced the American troops to "lay low" (S's words) and stay on base. Here's an AP story about the unrest. Thanks to the excellent "support" our troops receive, most of the troops in Afghanistan ride around in unarmored Ford Ranger pick-ups, carry inadequate radios (if any at all -- S and his group had to buy their own!!), and are overall unequipped for violent unrest of any kind. Those vehicles won't protect them from thrown rocks, let alone bullets. Yeah, we support our troops. If you vote republican, remember this: the blood from this death and destruction is on your hands. It's YOUR party that did this. And they continue to: it took a $72 million "bonus" giveaway to Halliburton to get Republicans to approve an appropriations bill to give more armor to soldiers. It finally passed after the pork was divvied up and now Bush is set to sign it. "Support" my ass!! (corrected post)
