The Stop-Loss: What it really means to soldiersHere's an excellent post about stop-loss by a soldier currently in Iraq, Sgt. Goetz. 10:13:02 AM | This is part of the "back door draft" a few (very few!) people are talking about. Unfortunately, there is no recourse for soldiers who are forced to stay in the military. S is facing the same thing. His contract is up in August, but he will not get his R+R until September, and doesn't expect to come home for good until the end of the year. And he's in the National Guard!! I think every member of the military understands that the government can use them how they see fit. I don't think, though, that many imagined when they signed up that the government would care so little for them and treat them so horribly. Inadequate support, abroad and at home, with unending service...how's that for "Support our Troops"?! |
Help vets with PTSD: contribute to Operation TruthHere's a heartbreaking story I found out about at Operation Truth. 9:52:45 AM | This soldier, like thousands of others, suffers from the devastating effects of going to war -- both physical and mental. Operation Truth is sending a delegation of vets to Washington next week to push for more funds for PTSD treatment for returning vets. They are trying to raise $10,000 for the trip. Please help them if you can. |
What the hell is going on?!!Why the hell isn't this being covered?! Thirty-five soldiers have been killed this month so far. Iraq is complete chaos, but how would you know this when we don't give a damn?!! 9:21:59 AM | I am ashamed of us. I can't believe we care so little. It's sick. |
