Gee, I wonder what this button does?
In all that is being said about George W. Bush’s visit to Britain, one little detail struck me.
“The president rides with the "football", a briefcase carried by a military aide which contains the launch codes for America's nuclear arsenal.” (found here)
(and before you start that lefty righty thingy; that was the first relevant link on the list)
He still has that thing? What does he need that for? How many countries are there that a) have nuclear bombs, b) the capability to deliver them to the US and c) would be willing to launch a nuclear war right now? What are those weapons aimed at? They used to be aimed at Russia, but they are now one of the USA’s closest allies. North Korea? They can just about reach Japan. India or Pakistan? They’ve got them aimed at each other. Israel? I doubt it. Iran? Not quite there yet. Britain? That would be silly. Which leaves only one target they might be aiming at. So visit Paris now. It might not be there next year…
